DEAR SIR, DEAR DAD (CHER MONSIEUR, CHER PAPA) (Produced by PS Productions - Co-produced with Swiss TV and ARTE. A Film by François Kohler. 1 x 52 / 1 x 84) Karim, Adrien, Tristan, Joel and Matthew are all aged between 16 and 21. They share one common trait: the physical or emotional absence of their father and their desire to find him. They let their anguish show through, the feeling of something missing yet also hope for the future. Growing up without a father is hard work. They have to fill in this gap by forming their own real, imaginary or virtual image of themselves. This search for a father and the construction of these references look like an initiatory journey. They are the first steps of moving away from childhood into the adult-world. |

(Produced by Climage (Switzerland) - A Film by Fernand Melgar. For the first time, a camera unrestrictedly penetrates into the universe of a Swiss reception centre for asylum seekers. It presents a human gaze at an austere transition place, where 200 men, women and children, torn between doubt and hope, are awaiting the state's decision on their behalf. Empathy and distrust punctuate the exchanges between the residents and the staff of the centre in charge of applying the most restrictive asylum law in Europe . With emotion, though also with humour, THE FORTRESS immerses us into the heart of this daily sorting process of human beings. |
